NEWCIS provides a lifeline to carers of all ages and backgrounds and offers a range of services tailored to meet individual needs. NEWCIS can help you access the information, guidance and support you need to help you in your caring role. As well as informing you about your rights as an unpaid carer.
An unpaid carer is anyone who cares (or intends to care), unpaid, for a relative, partner or friend who is ill, frail, disabled or has mental health or substance misuse problems.
NEWCIS GP Facilitators work with the local health board and GP practices to identify and support carers. Informing your GP that you are an unpaid carer ensures your surgery is aware of your additional responsibilities. NEWCIS meets regularly with GP practices to inform them of updates on carers rights and services in the community.
